This program is structured for your flexibility. Choose from one or all of the MicroBadges, each addressing different aspects of birthing support. Every course is standalone, allowing you to customize your learning journey according to your needs and schedule. The courses can be taken in any order, and there are no prerequisites.

  • To be awarded the Advanced Perinatal Support Professional MicroCertificate, learners must complete nine MicroBadges plus the following two courses: IBWC Caring for the Newborn and the Postpartum Period Professional MicroBadge and the IBWC Supporting Someone Through Labour Professional MicroBadge.
  • If you are a birth support worker, nurse, or midwife, you may be exempt from having to take the IBWC Supporting Someone Through Labour Professional MicroBadge. Don't hesitate to get in touch with icec@fnuniv.ca and submit proof of training.

Continued education provides support for people with advanced skills and knowledge, which can be crucial in handling complex situations during childbirth and postpartum.

Deeper knowledge and competence can significantly boost the support person's confidence. Well-informed support persons can provide more comprehensive support and information.
