Course Description

Pregnancy can be a joyful and transformative time, but for many, it also comes with unique challenges. This course focuses on how to support people in the perinatal period who are living with pre-existing conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, heart conditions, autoimmune disorders, mental health concerns, and more. These birthers often experience stigma, dismissal, or barriers to accessing care. As Indigenous birth workers, para-professionals, or supporting family members, your role is to affirm their strength, advocate with compassion, and walk alongside them with cultural safety and relational care.

TRC Calls to Action

Health #18, #19, #20, #22, and #23

This course supports the TRC Calls to Action in the health sector. This course exists today because of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action supporting Indigenous health.
